Student Party! Finally!! It's been foreshadowed for forever.
Alphys and Gaster haven't seen each other since their, umm, altercation. Hence, the backing away.
((It had been years since Alphys stepped into a lab. Her hands trembled in anticipation: an odd mix of excitement and nervousness. But, that was for later. For now, she followed Dr. Gaster down the winding hallway. A silent man, he is. Hasn't spoken at all.))
